First Real Post on Preg A2Z...

So, I did a welcome post on Pregnancy A to Z, but... I still haven't done a real article yet. I've been working on one, but I haven't finished it and posted it. Life has gotten in the way.

Despite this, I have made $0.00 through AdSense!!!

Yeah, this is going to take more of my time than I thought. Gotta get writing those articles!!! Even after that, it'll be a while before there's enough traffic to get some $$. Sigh....

AdSense and Blogger for N00bs

Okay. I didn't do it right.

It seems that Blogger is so helpful that it lets you put in AdSense ads as their own "gadget". I had to go to the layout page and add the ads. Then there was a help thingie on putting ads between posts, which is available when you edit the post gadget.

The ad doesn't quite fit the size of the posting area of the page. Gotta figure out how to fix that. But it's not like there's much traffic there yet anyway.

The ads aren't exactly topical. But I didn't post anything there until today, so can't really blame Google for the off-topic ads!

Maybe they'll be more on topic tomorrow.

Ha! Ha! Added ads to this one too. At least these are more on topic.

Post on PregA2Z

Finally! I have posted on the pregnancy blog!

I got an email from AdSense saying "Hey, you're not using your account." Apparently applying with blog that I created then deleted got me in. That's a little fishy...

So I clicked the links in the email to sign in and set up an ad. Had to create a channel. Go to the help center again. Channel created, but how do I select it for this ad? Go to the help center again. I think I got it. There should be a Google ad in the middle of the text of the welcome message on PregA2Z. But so far there's just whiteness. Hope I did it right.... We'll see!

Still no Post on PregA2Z

I do believe it's better to wait for inspiration, but I also have to spend the time to sit down and write it. I'm going to make time today to write my intro post on Pregnancy A to Z.

Experimenting with Blogger

Okay, I was playing around with managing posts and saw a title to just display "scheduled" posts. "Wow! I can schedule posts!" I said to myself. I wanted to know more, so I went surfing through the Blogger Help.

It turns out that "Blogger" is the interface/software that I use to create, display, and maintain my posts and bloggy-blog page and that "Blog*Spot" is the host for my lovely blog(s). I wondered why there were two domain names!! Der!!

And yes, this lesson was also an exercise in procrastinating writing my first post for Pregnancy A to Z, my new blog. Guess I need to bite the bullet and all that. Or maybe it would be wiser to wait for inspiration... ;-)

Changing Blogs

I've decided that I didn't refine the scope of that knowledge quite enough. I'm going to narrow it from Mommy-hood to just pregnancy. I know I'll stray outside those bounds just a little, and that's okay. Calling it Motherhood just opens it up to covering parenting kids of all ages, and that's waaay too much!

So, now my soon to be AdSensed, soon to be pro blog is: Pregnancy A to Z

Need to get my ideas together for some articles and at least an intro/welcome article. Gotta get some content up there and re-apply to AdSense!

The Beginning

I think that for my talents and interests and for my husband and children, that I need a flexible job that allows me to be creative. Not finding such a "miracle job" in my searches, I'm creating one for myself. I've chosen to try being a pro blogger.

problogger.net has tons of great tips and advice. I like that Darren doesn't sugar-coat it. The competition is fierce, and this special career requires technical skills and creative skills. This is just up my alley!!

My husband pointed out that he's never known me to be a follow-through, see it to the end, kind of gal, so this may be uphill for me. But we'll see!!

For starters, I've started a blog on mommy-hood. I brainstormed what I've researched and learned about being a mommy. I refined the scope of that knowledge and created a blog with the appropriate address and title: Becoming a Mom.

I started an AdSense account today. Need to get a few articles going for the mommy blog, and learn more about AdSense.

I plan to give myself 6 months to see if I can do this and transition my family's income to my pro-blogging business. Need to set an income goal for the end of the 6 months...

Stay tuned. This will be a roller coaster. Ups and Downs, but still fun, and what a rush!!
